The DullTech™ video-loop player is all you need.

The smart, hassle-free, plug-and-play USB-friendly media player that loops video perfectly on all screens and syncs without problems or cables. And is a lot cheaper than the competition. The DullTech™ Media Player is both a piece of hardware and a performative artwork.

DullTech™ began life during a 2012 residency in OCAT in Shenzhen, China. As artists who work closely with various technologies as part of award-winning practices, we are all too aware of how testing and complex modern hardware can be. Frustrated by personal experiences and other artists’ tales of installing video presentations in high-pressure exhibition and art-fair environments, we decided it was time for a company to make a media player that makes life simple.

Could there be one box which could effortlessly loop and sync videos over multiple screens, a box which would get rid of remote controls, expensive AV professionals, stress and drama?

Enter the DullTech™ Media Player

Simply connect a DullTech™ Media Player to a screen of your choice from the latest HD screens and projectors to old computer monitors and televisions. Insert a USB stick with a video file into media player box and watch it loop from start to end on the screen with no black or company logo in between cycles for a seamless video repeat.  If you want to sync and loop two different video files on two different screens, connect another DullTech™ Media Player, flick the switch and experience true viewing pleasure, wireless.  It’s really that simple.

The problem with players I’ve used in the past is that they require special hacks and tricks to simply play a video in a loop without titles and interference elements popping up. Finally there’s an easier way!

The DullTech video and product bring the conditions of the modern factory into the economies of creative digital production, highlighting the dependence on this type of labor shared by artists, the white cube, and Kickstarter itself. In so doing, it points out a disconcerting double bind: the ability to observe and critique this process seems to belong solely to those who enable it.
